A long day today.... We traveled to Syracuse this afternoon to go to my uncle's funeral. We originally came out to Rochester to visit my Grandma who was very sick. She has made great improvements and is moving to a rehab hospital this week. But then on Saturday, my Uncle Vince had a heart attack and passed away suddenly.
This week has been the most unpredictable week of my life. A glimmer of light was all the smiles that Hayden brought to so many people's faces at the funeral. It was the first chance all of my relatives in Syracuse (my mom's family) got to meet Hayden. Even my godmother/cousin, Bonnie (her dad is Uncle Vince) was able to smile when she got to see Hayden.
When we got home, Hayden got to meet my brother, "Uncle Sean," who just returned from work. I think we gave Sean a complex because we keep saying that Hayden never cries (except when getting changed)... but he sure cried when we let Uncle Sean hold him! To his credit, Hayden was VERY hungry and just wanted to eat. After dinner, he was more than happy to rest with his uncle!

Wow! What a jumble of days this has been! Hayden won't remember all of this but he will know how many people love and cherish him from all the wonderful photos! I'm so very proud of you guys for supporting Grammie Jean and Grandpa Rex. My only sadness is that I didn't have the chance to actually hold and cuddle Hayden .... but I WILL! It is not easy to say goodbye to a loved one, nor is it easy to visit and support a sick relative, but i have to think that all of this happened in a way, conspiring to get the whole family together and to meet Hayden. In our family, the best people to have at a funeral are babies and expecting couples. I think it is great that Hayden got to be there to say goodbye to your uncle and spread some love.
