Today was a big doctor day. Hayden went for his 6 week appointment today and he did GREAT! He is already 7 lbs. 10 oz. and 20.5 inches long. That means he has gained over 3 lbs. since he left the hospital and has grown 3.5 inches! He is catching up quickly on the growth chart and should be all caught up in no time!
After the regular appointment, we had to go get blood drawn so that they could check his thyroid levels. He did NOT like this part of the day. At 6 weeks, your veins aren't so big, so getting an IV in there to get blood isn't so easy. After three different pokes, they finally were able to get it going out of his hand. But that didn't happen without a lot of screaming. A LOT of screaming. You should have seen Chris and I hunched over the table trying to calm him. Chris was talking in his ear while he watched the nurse try to get a good vein. I was massaging his legs and staring at anything BUT the needle! In the end, they got what they needed and we should have the results tomorrow or Monday. And bonus... he got a free book, "Flopper" compliments of the lab.
The weather is quite warm so I'm hoping that tomorrow we'll be able to take a nice stroll around the neighborhood. He hasn't been abe to get too much fresh air yet so it should be fun. Let's hope the weather cooperates.
Tomorrow Ben and Lisa from San Fran come to visit for the weekend. We can't wait for them to meet the little boy!
