It's hard to believe that it's only been one day since Hayden was born! We have had enough emotions in the past twenty four hours to fill a year! He is doing well. He was having some difficulty breathing this morning so he was put in the NICU. It turns out that his lungs weren't quite ready for the world outside the womb so he has some catching up to do. He is breathing on his own, but he is having to work extra hard to do it. When they put him in NICU this morning they put him on a CPAP machine. Basically, he is getting some extra oxygen to help him along. The doctors all say he is doing great and his body just needs to catch up with him. He has great color and is super strong. He is moving his arms and legs all over, stretching out in this new, wide open space! He had a bath this morning and his true hair color is evident now. For now, he has dark blond wavy hair. His eyes are a dark blue for now. We're excited for him to keep making progress. Because he has so much else to focus on, we aren't able to hold him right now. It's best if he relaxes and uses all of his energy to get those lungs in tip top shape. Every four hours we get to work with the nurses to take his temperature, change his diaper, and hold his hand for a bit. We just got back to the hotel and are going to get a quick few hours of sleep and then head back to the hospital in the morning. We'll keep you all updated! Here are some pics from today:

Here he is with the CPAP (oxygen mixer) on. Still as cute as can be!

Daddy Chris takes Hayden's temperature! It's perfect.

Our favorite pic of the day. Here he is opening his eyes and looking at his daddies! WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH!
