Day Eleven - Journal

Well... we're still here. I have to say we were a bit disappointed this morning. We spent all of last night getting ready and packing everything up. We got ourselves all excited about taking Hayden home today.

When we got to the hospital this morning, we heard the news that he had a very slow night with regard to feeding. He actually lost weight rather than gaining. So, it's best that he stick around. They're thinking that maybe tomorrow (Saturday) is the magic day, but no guarantees. He just needs to stay awake for his feedings. He's a bit sluggish and doesn't always make it through a whole feeding. Part of this probably has to do with the hypothyroidism, part because he's still quite young.

After we heard the news, we (Hayden included) were determined to have a good day of feeding... and he did. As of now (about 11pm) he has done well on all of his feedings today. He seems to have the most trouble with the late night feedings so Chris and I are thinking we are going to stay up and be there with him for those (usually a nurse does the midnight and 3am feedings).

We'll know more tomorrow morning. Until then we just keep reminding ourselves that he'll let us know when he's ready. And when he's ready we'll be there.

We'll keep you all updated.
